누군가와 함께 여정을 시작할 때 꼭 필요한 준비물이 있다. 그것은 '거짓말'이다. 진실하자는 것만큼 기가 막힌 거짓말도 없다. 내 앞에서 만큼은 솔직해져도 괜찮다고 말하는 사람들의 대부분은, 실은 불안한 사람이 아닐까. 난 그를 만나는 내내 한치의 거짓도 없었다. 그 투명한 진실은 사실 그가 원하던 진실이 아니었던 것이다. 그는 나에게 실망했고, 나는 나의 솔직함이 부끄러웠다. 그 소년을 위한 여자를 만들어주고 싶다. 추한 진실도 연약하고 아름다운 거짓말로 잘 꾸며낼 수 있는 사람으로.
A Woman for the Boy

When embarking on a journey with someone, there is one essential thing you must bring: a "lie." There is no more absurd lie than the notion of being entirely truthful. Most people who say, "It's okay to be honest with me," are probably the ones who are truly anxious. Throughout my time with him, I was completely honest, with not a single lie. However, that transparent truth was not the truth he wanted. He was disappointed in me, and I felt ashamed of my honesty. I want to create a woman for that boy—a person who can transform even ugly truths into delicate and beautiful lies.
